Via Slashdot, a disturbing piece of news saying that the EU parliament accepted the proposal that ISP’s and telcos must log and backup all trafic data (internet connections, traffic, email, file sharing, SMS, phone calls) in order to fight ‘crime and terrorism’ (with filesharers being probably included in the first category).
I have yet to double check the news, as the link on Slashdot points to a pdf describing the proposal, but no other backup data. I’m waiting for Cory Doctorow over at BoingBoing to post his comment on the matter.
Does this mean no more downloadable tv-series for me? No more DivX, XVids, screeners, torrents? No more prank calls? No more business secrets over the phone line? Man, 21’st century sucks…
