Do whatever you feel more comfortable with (it’s your blog after all), just be consistent. The bilingual posts don’t bother me. Personally, I would like all stories to have an English version—there are many interesting topics that I want to point out to my international friends but I can’t when they are only in Romanian. But then again, who has the time to translate every story?

I don’t speak German, so we’re ok ;)

No, really, even if the english readers won’t follow my blog on a regular basis, at least they may find some interesting stuff on it while Googling.

“I speak Spanish to my God, French to my friends, Italian to my mistresses, and German to my horse.”
Charles V

So keep speaking German to your horses and French to your friends. The problem is some of your horses could be also your friends ;-)

I think that one good point would be that no english reader will actually follow a bilingual blog because of the anoying weird romanian posts that come up once in a while… Would you read a bilingual german blog? I know I wouldn’t.

Pai cred ca voi pastra deocamdata modus-operandi-ul curent (tehnic preponderent in engleza, non-tehnic in romana). Imi vine mai lesne… :)

Voi analiza insa posibilitatea unui blog tehnic in romana…

well, I wasn’t actually complaining on that (as it doesn’t really bother me to read in either english or romanian), it was just an advice … As any advice, it may be good or wrong and you may use it as you wish.
Why romanian and not english ? Because :

# already the most interesting part of the blog (your stories, experiences, personal stuff etc) are in romanian, so an english speaker will not have access to them

# as you were saying some time ago, your site has been visited by romanians using google on “gigi becali”, “generatia de afara”, etc – if they browse your site, articles written in romanian may appeal more

# plus there are less entries in search engines with IT stuff and romanian words than english language and the gain should be visible, (especially if someone is searching for mixed entries english + ro)

# the last argument, probably the most personal is that translating these IT news in romanian you are playing the role of a source of info for romanians who do not have the time / patience / knowledge to digg after these news – but for an english speaker they are already accesible on sites as digg.com, boingboing.net and others

As prefera sa citesc in romana fiindca fiecare limba isi impune propriul ritm, structura si uneori propriai linie de gandire fiecarui om, incat un text in engleza suna total diferit fata de unul in romana, indiferent daca sunt aproape identice dpdv al continutului

As you well point out, I have two kinds of posts in my blog:

#the romanian-language ones, where I write my essays, some of my stories, my thoughts and experiences (and which is targeted towards my parents and friends)

#the IT/Web related ones, where English is used as the language of choice.

I should probably make a clearer distinction betweend those two sections of my blog, but you are the first to complain.

What do my other Romanian readers believe? Is my blog’s bilinguality bothering? (Cu alte cuvinte, va deranjeaza posturile cand in romana, cand in engleza?)

hmmm, please allow me to have some doubts on the ASAP part (especially considering the last payed / not payed content discussion we had). I still think this is a very nice idea, but I don’t think people are there yet (considering how many associate “free” with “costless”). I do however realise that it is a very good add campain for the singer and that many groups & bands would greatly benefit from this kind of activity when they start, but I don’t think in the near future you will be able to get the last “robbie wiliams” album for free (I hope however I am wrong on this :P)

About the late (and increasingly often switch to english) I understand it’s motives, but I think hardcore readers should be your target (ie friends and such, many of whom are romanian speaking folks). After all, it was you underlining the importance of good “niche” targeting in music sales ;)
