The 21c century is coming

You may have wondered why my planned short-story series regarding the 21 century is stalling.

The first and main reason is that I don’t have the time anymore.
The second reason is that I’m kind of stuck with the script, it isn’t going where I wanted it to go

The third reason, however, is the most annoying of all: since it appears that there is no author protection for amateur publishing(such as blogs), as George pointed out , anyone else can copy, republish, redistribute, sell and, why not, assume the ownership of anything I might write. While free copy and redistribution will never bother me, reselling, non attribution and its derivatives do.

Why? Cause this way someone else could pretend ownership over my previously publicized ideas, and afterwards prevent me from redistributing them, talk about them or use them. And this gets even more annoying when you learn that, just as Richard Stallman predicted(in an article I linked from here), a new generation of patents is coming: the one over plots.

And while I recently wrote about paying a fee for shared dreams, for remembering them or for listening to a few notes of a popular song , I should have been a bit more pessimistic: the series character should have paid a fee for living according to a patented story plot. Oh, yeah, ‘cause I’m pretty sure it will come to this as well.
