iPhone 2.0 firmware jailbreaked

iPhone
Lifehacker lets us know that we can finally add iPhone 2.0 firmware to our first-gen jailbreaked iPhone.

While Lifehacker’s post is small and not really helpful, the link from apcmag.com gives us more useful info: the tool PwnageTool is used to create a “fake” 2.0 firmware file that is being used to upgrade the iPhone to, from within iTunes.

The whole process is entirely experimental and risky, and unless you know how to enter DFU mode I wouldn’t even think of starting it. While I won’t try to jailbreak the iPhone this way, this news gives me hope that a ZiPhone update might be coming sometime soon. I can hardly wait trying out the AppStore :D

yeah, i know … lifehacker is always late with the news. this time, they were probably sleeping over the weekend :)

to enter DFU mode you just need to press 2 buttons. to pwn it is more difficult.

and btw, zibri doesn’t have anything to do with the pwnage tool 2.0 and he’s not gonna release anything anytime soon. at least according to his personal blog…

one small correction. iPHone was not jailbreaked but “jailbroken”. and it is iPhone classic which can be upgraded to a custom fw 2.0, jailbroken and unlocked and iPhone 3G can only be jailbroken as of now.

you should really start reading the posts you comment on. i never claimed zibri had anything to do with pwnage, i just hope advances made by the pwnage guys will give zibri fresh energy for the ziphone.

for the second phrase, see the comment above (i never claimed the opposite..)

for the first, i’m guessing you try to seem smarter by correcting my English. google for “jailbreaked” and you’ll find much more important US bloggers that use it.

@alex: i’m not trying to outsmart you. it was just an honest remark. it’s your choice if you want to google a word and use that because some other people have made the same mistake before you.

i’ve done it in the past. but it doesn’t mean it is correct…

and I AM reading the posts. otherwise i wouldn’t have commented in the first place. i know what i’m talking about.
