Suing people for calling him a Spammer

This guy has been threatening with a lawsuit about every Romanian blogger who dared tell people that Urban and Associates have been fined for spam by ANRCTI, the Romanian authority in the field of Communications and Information Technology. To show he means business he’s currently pursuing suit against www.legi-internet.ro (Internet Laws) asking for the site to be torn down, since it wouldn’t comply to his Cease or Desist letter.

You know what’s even weirder? The reason for the suit, Iulian Urban says, is that the word spam isn’t “definitive and sanctioned in Romania“; the offending bloggers apparently would have been safe from his menaces if only they had used the romanian term for his infraction - “sending out unsolicited electronic messages“.

I’m thinking now that I’ll probably be safe by posting this article - after all, although spam doesn’t exist in the Romanian dictionaries(yet), it does exist in the English ones; and this article is in English, and not even once did I claim that Iulian Urban could be a spammer. Just to be clear, Iulian Urban is NOT a spammer and his firm has NOT been sanctioned for SPAM; his firm was only sanctioned for “sending out unsolicited electronic messages“. I’m not commenting out the decision which may or may not be correct. I’m only finding it weird that this guy thinks he can force the removal of any blog post which uses both his name and the word spam. Given that Iulian Urban does NOT own any copyright or trademark over the word spam, no instance would be able to prevent me from telling people that he is not a spammer.

Right?

PS. I see that www.legi-internet.ro is currently down; I hope it’s only a DNS related issue and not the result of the above mentioned lawsuit.
